Key User details disappeared ?

When we picked the new car up from the dealer two months ago (2023 Q3 40 tfsi Sportback) the dealer went through all the key user set up for my wife (its her car so i'm happy to be a guest user). The My Audi App was set up etc. and she entered her e-mail and a personalised PIN. From then on the vehicle recognised her as the "key user" and whenever she got in the car the screen registered her as the key user and said "hello Vera".

Suddenly this week, this has all disappeared and we are both guest users.

She always uses the same key, but I sometimes use her key and sometimes the "spare". Regardless of which key I'm using I always press "continue as guest" - has this confused the dear Audi which has caused it to delete the "key user" info ? Has anybody had this happen to them ?

Also, when we collected the car the dealer explained that the Audi Connect Activation Card with 10 digit code had not arrived, but it wasn't really needed and would make no difference in setting up the MyAudi App, the "key user" and other user profiles - is the dealer correct in this ?

The dealer said the card would arrive "soon" but we've heard nothing yet. Is it essential to have that card ? I think on previous models the 10 digit code was on the key tag.

Any info gratefully received.

Many thanks to all for the comments and info.
I'll try to reset things to as they were. I want to try to do this without the pain of going to the dealer.
The My Audi app version we have is not up to date, so i'll update that as a first step - would've thought it would auto update but hey ho!

Looking at SimonAudi's comment, I do hope that all is not wiped every time there is an app update (or no auto update).
Thanks Jalees for the confirmation on the key fob, I had scratched my head over that one.

I'll be chasing the dealer today for the MMI Activation Card - let you know how that goes.

Judging by comments on here, and other manufacturer forums, its seems that manufacturers might do better to give buyers things they want as standard such as: Front parking sensors, spare wheel, rear sill protectors, electric memory seats, rear puddle lights and red door open light etc, instead of spending development time/money on software and apps that nobody really gives too much of a fig about. Some would say that the App (as with many Apps) is just one huge data gathering exercise, so who cares if it functions properly. I seem to remember in one area of form filling to set everything up, there was a field to complete for "place of birth" I'd love somebody at Audi to explain the rationale for gathering that piece of data i.e. somebody could be born in country X, then at the age of three months move with their parents to country Y then after a year or two move the country Z where they remain for the rest of their lives. GDPR anyone. :)

Kind regards all

When you eventually trade in your Q3 the 10 digit code will be very important. On mine you need the code to set up the MMI. In my case, the 10 digit code was on a plastic tag attached to the key ring.
Dealer has come back and said MMI Activation Card (10 digit code) is no longer required or supplied.

Thinking about it, the dealer set up the MMI and key user without the code from the get go. All that seemed to be required was Vera's e-mail address which was already registered on the main Audi system. So I don't really know what to think now. Will this cause a load of hassle further down the line in a few years when the car is traded in or sold privately.

Do I challenge the dealer on his assertion that it is not required ?

Just a further update. The key user has now been successfully reinstated without an activation card. All that was required was the e-mail address, as logged on the Audi main system and the password previously applied.

It seems that Audi have changed the system, they no longer issue the Activation Code Card. If I understand correctly, this means that when a car is sold to the second owner (especially if sold privately or to a non-Audi dealer) the new owner will need to visit an authorised dealer and fill out the necessary paperwork, including providing verification of identity, and set up the app before a new key user can be assigned. Of course this also applies to the third owner and so on.

Its all part of keeping things within the dealer network etc. and of course data gathering. ;)
