Looks that way Richard, my beast will have been in production at that point so it looks like I've (just) dodged a bullet there.

Thanks for the information, both of you - tips and heads-ups like that are invaluable to members.

Mine ended up going back in as it wasn't fixed, from cold if you shifted from auto to the sequential by knocking the shifter left it made a loud bang. Anyway Audi has put a full new box in.

this was all under the extended warranty i hate to think how much this has cost

Thanks for that carvaletingpro. Just one of many links lost in the forum "upgrade". <Another link to TPI2039423/1>
Hi
Im having the same issue on a 2.0 TDi 14 plate 7 speed s-tronic. Had the car from new, FMDSH, the noise started at 50,000 miles. Reported to Audi, they said its my imagination.......hey ho. Put up with in through to 125,000 miles. Its worrying, especially as I am on M-Ways a lot.
Has there been a recall?
Audi dealer said that if I pay the ÂŁ370 diagnostics, they will ask Audi for a 'contribution'.

Google Translate says:

Hello, my name is marcelo and I am having the same problem, my car is with 50000km, but denied warranty, the year is 2013/1014, it is already out, but it seems that this is a chronic problem of the car, how you got the warranty ?

I think Marcelo is asking if anyone has been able to get a goodwill claim out of warranty.

In Italy VGI (distributor of VW AG cars for Italy) uses a practice called something along the lines of "quickness" to respond to warranty demands outside the official warranty period. To access to this channel you have to have your car purchased and maintained under the official distributor, have all the papers current regarding maintenance and service. Based on experience the request can be dealer initiated or user prompted using the customer care phone line.

One might also want to evaluate the magnitude of the requested repair since it is not infrequent to find out that even if the request has been approved a significant part of the costs remain charged to the user, usually fluids, gaskets and other consumables are never included besides labor hours which are treated independently. There also might be additional costs like RG guided scans, waste material disposal, tools wear and tear added to the final bill.

So it might be possibile to get a free GOODWILL claim out of warranty... but it also might not be as free and as goodwill as the term suggests.
