Unfortunately I don't have a rear camera and can't add to this thread, but commend you on such immaculately kept rims!
And his T-Square is in pretty nifty condition also........something wrong there

Yup, no nicks, scratches, pen/pencil/Sharpie marks and covered in dust - must belong to a Council Planning officer.

Since then, there are patches of flaking lacquer on the spokes, but that's another thread..... Still waiting for Audi to make a decision on the warranty.....

Yup, still have all my old drawing instruments, but they hardly see the light of day now. Anyone else remember the days of ink on linen? Drafting film was a revelation for us.

Not since Technical Drawing classes at grammar school in Exeter back in the '60s.

Not Ink on Linen but when I started work our drafting floor used Coated Aluminium Sheets 20' x 6' and the draftsmen used to "etch/scrape" the lines onto the surface from rather early* computers, it was then transferred to the copy department where it was flat bed UV copied onto film for distribution.......oh such fun!

*read.....1K memory...woohooo rock on!

And before that......although apparently when this was taken it had to be asked that people stopped smoking for an hour before so the picture would be clearer......great days eh?

Good evening guys,
I want to do this mod as well as my ride doesn't have parking sensors front nor rear! Is it possible to have RVC standalone? I find conflicting statements on this, some say you need to have sensors for RVC to work.
I have RMC Nav and the trailer hitch that pops down, so If I understand correctly I should do the following coding once installed?
- Address 19 (CANbus unit) -> Installation list -> 6C Reverse Camera [SELECT]
- Address 5F (For vehicles with RMC only) -> Long coding -> Byte 6 -> set Bit 2 to 1
- Address 6C (reverse camera) Coding: 1010015 = automatic trailer coupling, without APS+
Thanks ;o)

From previous posts on this thread it appeared that front and rear parking sensors needed to be fitted for the reverse camera to work. One owner had rear sensors only and did not manage to get the camera working (or update the forum if / how he eventually did).In contrast, companies who offer retrofitreverse camera kitsindicate it can befitted on cars without parking sensors providing at least the rear sensors are installed first (explained on the Kufatec web site) - https://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/audi/q3/q3-8u/complete-bundle-audi-rear-view-camera-q3-8u

Cheers Spike

So, I installed the OEM reverse camera (see topichttp://www.q3ownersclub.co.uk/forum/howto-retrofitting-rear-view-camera_topic2045.html) and now I am trying to calibrate the camera so I can get rid of the only fault code I have.
I read through this topic, the one on audizine (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/507970-Backup-Camera-Calibration) and ross tech (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Audi_A4_%288K%29_Back-Up_Camera#Special_Procedures).
I am using an OBDeleven for the coding (https://obdeleven.com/). I printed the calibration sheet at staples and am aligning it behind the car as per the discussion topics here and the ones mentioned above.
In module 6C (Reverse Camera) channel 004 reads 15595 and 005 reads 500 (I just have the printed sheet on the garage floor so no hight adjustment required as per ross tech instructions).
When I try to set module 1 from 0 to 1 to enable the calibration I get an error: "marginal conditions have not been met". Not sure if this is OBDeleven specific error or not.
Anyways - haven't been able to calibrate at this point so the research continues. Any tips or pointers are much appreciated.
Thanks
Alex

What distance do you have between the rear axle and front of the template? The ElsaWin manual shows it should be 1.47 to 1.90mtres, but I found I had to reduce it to 1.43m, otherwise I got the error "0x0004 - Correction Vales out of range" which sounds similar to the obdeleven message. Try moving it closer to the rear axle, and re-calculate your value accordingly.

As you have probably seen on page 1, I started off with the template on the floor, but in desperation put it on a box and tilted it up at the back before it would work. My feeling is that it may be something to do with printing the template on paper. I haven't seen a genuine calibration board, but I wonder if it is a more reflective material.

Thanks Richard -
Fiddling around all day with the calibration and getting nowhere. Still getting the "marginal conditions have not been met". Wondering if I am using the right channel to enable calibration?
I am keeping the car in reverse with the camera on while trying to calibrate - is there anything on the screen I should see when calibration occurs.
Thanks
Alex

This is what worked for me:

Run VCDS and go to
[6C - Back-Up Camera]
[Security Access - 16] Enter 22351

[Adaptation - 10]
Channel 005 [Read] I saved a value of 620 as paper for me was on a box 120mm high
[Test] [Save]
Channel 004 [Read] I saved a value of 15967 (constant 20000 - wheelbase 2603 - dist. from rear axle 1430 = 15967mm)
[Test] [Save]
Channel 001
[Read] save a value of 1 (this starts the calibration)
[Test] [Save]
[Done, Go Back]

To check the calibration status, I went to

[Meas. Blocks - 08]
Select Block 130 [Go!]
Block 130 Field 3 (Calibration Status)
Specification: 0x0000 (Calibration Successful)
[Done, Go Back]

I recall it took a few seconds for the calibration routine to run before field 3 showed 0x0000. I don't remember seeing anything on the MMi screen, but I was looking at my laptop during that time.

Edit: A few other notes from ElsaWin:

 Camera lens must be clean.
 Vehicle must be positioned on a firm and even surface.
 There must be sufficient space around the vehicle (at least 2 m).
 Parking brake must be activated.
 Steering wheel must be in centre position, wheels must be straight.
 All doors and the rear lid must be closed.
 There must not be anyone inside the vehicle.
 Vehicle must not be loaded (unladen weight).
 The battery charger must be connected.
 The ignition must be switched on.

Hey Richard:
Thanks a bunch!
Still trying to work on this. I had the car running in reverse. Reading your notes it says:"The battery charger must be connected." Did you do this?
Thanks
Alex

Yes, I did have one connected. I put it in reverse, but didn't have the engine running.
