Have you tried switching between the auto setting for them in the MMI and also by just operating the column stalk to switch between the white or blue full beam symbol on the dash and does it show auto under the symbol?
In lit areas it should show the white full beam symbol with auto and change to blue with auto for unlit areas.
It uses the camera behind the rear view mirror along with light sensors so make sure this is clean, wipers clearing correctly.
Have you had the windscreen replaced at any point?

 

I did try switching them on and off both on the stalk and in the MMI menu. I tried turning the lights fully off - I always have both dipped and main beams set to auto - but haven’t been on any unlit roads where I could try them today to see if it has made any difference.

My windscreen was clean so I don’t think it could be that.

I thought it used a camera in the centre behind/under the rear view mirror for the matrix.

I’ll try them tomorrow night hopefully and see if they have improved after having turned the lights fully off and back on again.

Someone cut me up badly on a motorway at night a couple of weeks ago and I gave them a load of flashes, I was wondering whether that could have knocked the matrix bandy but surely it shouldn’t have done any damage.

 

Cycling through headlight operation with the button and on the stalk doesn’t seem to have worked.

Its perculiar, driving along an unlit motorway and the lights stay on dipped beam, then when I get on a lit slip road the matrix come on and then go off again.

The matrix do operate on unlit A-roads but I’m not convinced they are working as they should.

Looks like it will be another 2 month wait to get it booked into Audi.
