Normally I run a set of winter tyres on my vehicles & the recommended temperature for change over for them to work effectively is +7.0 oC. To my horror when I left for work the Temp was +5.0 oC dose this mean I have to fit winter tyres in August for the North East of England?

No half measures, go straight for the snow chains, you know it's always better to be fully prepared

It was 6 degrees over here in the North West at 7am. The weather is crazy at the moment as it is forecast 20 degrees tomorrow. September is generally a better month for most, so those tyres may not be required- just yet...

Thanks for the advice I had thought of Snow socks but that was only to keep my feet warm.

On a more serious note, I was told by the dealer that I could not fit snow chains to the Q3 as there was not enough clearance between the car and the body. I had the same problem with my previous A3. Does anyone know any different? I kept the snow socks from the A3 and will see if they fit the Q3.
