Hi all, a few weeks back I posted I'd had some damage to the roof rails from a roof rack system slipping.
see (http://www.q3ownersclub.co.uk/forum/roof-rail-damage_topic1088.html)

After looking at replacing the bar at a cost of £900 I though better of it. Looked at the people that fix alloy wheels no joy there.

Then I remember I had a friend that had his car wrapped in carbon fiber. I spoke to my locate company about wrapping the lower part of the bar where the damage was in a chrome wrap.

They sad this could be done, went in yesterday but after trying the chrome due to the reflective surface I didn't look good. I then asked about black to match the window surrounds. This was possible and I think for a charge of £40 they looks **** fine.

That looks pretty cool! A great cheap fix, too - I reckon that looks better than the original.
You might just have started a trend.

Agreed, very clever solution that looks great at a fraction of the price. Hats off to you.

Good thinking - it might be worth doing before putting roof bars on as a protection for the original surface.
