Hi, can anybody tell me if powered mirrors, which at the moment operate from armrest, can be made to operate when the car is locked/unlocked. Enquired in local audi garage and was told that some can and some cant and mine is the latter however after reading posts on this subject I am beginning to wonder if the garage just couldn't be bothered.

Hi Keith,

There are plenty of posts relating to Mirror folding etc, This one gives the coding required:

Hope that helps.

When my Indy flashed mine, it used software version 2219. It was 2230.

I was going to do it myself, but was doubtful because 2219 is an earlier version. When he connected to the VAG server, that's what it said on the system. My gearbox is also DSG DQ500-7A, hardware No 0BH 927 711 C, but has SW 0BH 300 012 C, so it may be different to yours.

Edit:
I just looked at the flash files I have on disk, and you can see that there is only one file for 012C, but several for 012 B.

So not much help at all!

Hi John! Yes, all is good thanks. The RS just turned 6 years old, and I still love it, with no plans to change. We sold my wife's A1, and she drives the RSQ3 most of the time. I sold my old 1989 911 just before lockdown #1, and bought the Cayman, which I'm also chuffed with. I'm still trying to retire, but not sure the end is in sight yet.

Oh good stuff, glad you are OK! Curiously I have a conversation scheduled with HR tomorrow over reducing the number of days worked as I'm knocking on the door of 64 in a bit over a week from now - maybe cut it to 4 days.

Thank you very much for your reply, Richard! 馃槂
weird is I never has seen my version 2233 in any list on internet... also the gearbox specialist does not have "good" versions to flash to mine TCU....
What I observed is everybody update to a lower number, like you. There is no oficial procedure to this, I guess.
But another person in other blog posted this to me:
Probably 2261, where they get the identifier from is a source of confusion but I suspect your box marries up the C/D identifier.

Richard. I drove a Cayman S for a few laps at Thruxton a few years ago and absolutely loved it. I could have been tempted but it wasn鈥檛 quite practical enough for me at the time. Now I couldn鈥檛 get in our out of it.

John. 4 days feels too much very quickly. Retirement has everything going for it鈥et it done asap. I managed it at 63 and have no regrets whatsoever.

It's amazing what you can do if you really want to.....

Welcome back Richard.
Cheers Gromit. It seems like the closer I get to retirement, the busier I get. I should have started the process 5 years ago. I'm 68 now, and it will be at least a year before it will actually happen. That's the trouble with working for yourself.

Richard, I was in exactly your position, self-employed and am pretty much your age. I started planning my retirement when I hit 60 and my IFA reckoned I could live OK without having to work. Over a five-year period I gradually told one client after another I was retiring and handed them over to another younger guy in my particular field, starting with the biggest PITAs and retaining those I really enjoyed working with until now with 70 looming this year I'm down to precisely two small commercial clients and a bunch of ex-customers who have also retired and become friends. Just enough to keep my hand in, pick up some extra cash occasionally and get me out and about a little. All in all it's worked out well and I now have more time to concentrate on helping a friend finish building a kit-car and looking after Mrs G whose health isn't what it was.

Good advice G, but the problem is that there are no other companies in our field in the UK, it is such a niche product and market. My daughter is going to take it over from me, but there is a lot for her to learn.

My incentive to chuck it in was the planning and building regulations systems and those who administered it. I still liked the drawing work (always by hand, no CAD) but hated the bureaucracy so I just started winding down to finish in 2016 but, in the end it was June 2017 when I just switched the phone and email off.
I have been helping family and a couple of good old clients but the planning experience has been so bad I鈥檝e come to the end of my tether.
