I had to giggle at the slight incongruity of finding "RSQ3" and "driven fairly sensibly" in the same posting... :sneaky:

Just a comment on the 5 owner issue...... a couple of years back I bought a TT Roadster, 6 years old, 22,000 miles at the time and with 5 previous owners! It had a partial Audi service history but had plenty of receipts etc.

However the car was immaculate and drove well so I took the plunge. In the 2.5 years and 5000 miles I drove it I only had 2 problems necessitating calling out the rescue services but neither of them was serious (one of them was just a faulty sensor). I had it serviced at my local Audi dealer and they confirmed it was immaculate and that I’d purchased a “bargain”. I had loads of fun in the car and sold it for a decent price recently when I “downsized” from 2 cars to 1. The purchasing dealer wasn’t the slightest bit bothered by the number of previous owners.

Specialist cars like these often throw up unforeseen issues with purchasers eg impractical, too expensive to run, problems with the repayments, job loss etc.

If the car is right don’t let the number of previous owners bother you; equally, if you’re uncomfortable walk away.

ps. The dealer who bought it from me advertised it at what I considered to be a ridiculous price and sold it within 5 days (with 6 previous owners!🤣🤣)

Thank you for trying to reassure me. The car checks out, the dealer is upfront and has send me the service record from AUDI which is:

12/08/15 Oil Change Service 3615 Miles
12/08/15 Used Car MPC 3615 Miles (car was a demonstrator)
05/05/16 Used Car MPC 13,117 Miles
25/08/17 MOT 24,100 Miles
14/09/17 Aircon Service 29,347 Miles
14/09/17 Brake Fluid Change 29,347 Miles
14/09/17 Haldex Oil Change 29,347 Miles (Oil change as well?)
14/09/17 Interval Inspection 29,347 Miles
14/09/17 Used Car MPC 29,347 Miles
06/02/19 Haldex Oil Change 36,345 Miles (Oil change as well?)
06/02/19 Inpsection Service 36,345 Miles (Oil change as well?)
05/04/19 MOT 37,002 Miles
03/06/20 Brake Fluid Change 42,195 Miles
03/06/20 MOT 42,195 Miles

The car currently has 44k miles, also got a receipt from Mangoletsi for an oil change at 42,882 miles. I can't also tell when breaks have been change but they must have been changed as least once it its life.

I am a bit confused with the oil changes it had and why the two Haldex Oil Changes..

I have put a deposit on it and going for a 390mile drive on Friday with the wife, I hope it will not be a disappointment..

Good luck mate, hope its the one for you... Regarding haldex, I can only think the car has changed hands and the next person got the haldex done again to be on the safe side...? Do you have any mention of spark plugs on the receipts.... These are evey 20k miles, also the gearbox oil change is every 38k... Any mention of this being done recently?

If not get your negotiation skills ready as your looking to drop about 400quid to get the plugs and gearbox serviced 😉

I got the dealer to phone Audi, gearbox, and sparkplugs were done at the inspection service 06/02/19 Inspection Service 36,345 Miles.

I also had confirmation that the grey car on my first post had similar service history and it will be getting the gearbox and sparkplug service done before I get delivery of it if I buy it. £500 more than the black car and 3 owners as oppose to 5 any thoughts? (also about 150miles closer to me - but not really mind this).

Daytona Grey car - it's nearer and it has Bose (you'll thank us), having Bose also means it will have an LED interior light pack too so will feel more special at night - there will be a great big sub in the boot and the Bose amplifier/DSP screwed to the RHR boot floor....it was a £690 option for a reason.

If they are promising the gearbox and sparkplugs to be done on the grey car, that 500quid extra is effectively them paying for the work. If both won't budge on price, the choice is yours I guess. Are they identical specs? The options list can be as long as your arm on these... Any with a Pano roof would be advantageous, along with Bose and Tech pack? Mine doesn't have Tech pack but Pano roof was more important for me for etc....enjoy the test drive. Make sure you stick the lever in 's' and give it some beans haha

The Bose is a great system in the 8U Q3.
I've had Bose before in an 8P S3....its better than that and I've had Bang & Olufsen in an 8V S3 and 8R SQ5......its better than them too.
The best system I ever had in a car was a 53 plate Mini Copper S, the bass from the Harmon Kardon was unreal at times!

First of many thanks for all the interest and help! I'm joining as a new owner one way or another.

They both have the lighting back but the Daytona Grey does have the extra Boss System.. Neither will move on the price..

Leaning towards the Daytona car as I got him to agree to do the gearbox oil & spark plugs. However, I can't tell if the Haldex been done I see a receipt from Audi for an Oil Service at 38k with additional work carried out the Brake Fluid Service but no mention for the Haldex. Could it be a standard service item that is not mentioned at 38k miles?

Worth mentioning that neither will really commit on the condition of the front discs, they both say if it is flagged at MOT it will get done. However, I doubt a random MOT center will know about the 1mm wear tolerance.. So I'm kind of mentally prepping for the sore point....

Out of the 2 I'd definitely say the grey one as it looks like a "proper" dealer with premises whereas the black one has pictures from a scenic location....puts me off straight away.
As for the brakes, I can't see either of them wanting to splash out £1k wether it fails on them or not, I'm also guessing they wouldn't fail anyway if its an mot station they use a lot.

It has to be your decision at the end of the day as you are going to be living with the car for possibly a number of years. They seem quite evenly matched assuming that the dealer of the grey one does the service work.

For me it would probably be the grey one, I prefer the wheels and the BOSE is a great system - never heard it in the Q3 but my dad had a few TT’s with it in. I’ve had upgraded sound packages in my last few cars, B&O and Burmester, and I don’t think I’d purchase a car without again.

I don’t know what you are like about car cleaning but the black would put me off for that reason as well.

I do like the alcantara in the black one though.....

Good luck!

I never thought about it that way, I just went by their reviews and the fact that the Black car dealer was very easy to deal with while the other kind was a bit harder. You have definitely got me thinking now.

Grey car all day long for me,it’s a great colour. Black is heartbreaking, five seconds after you’ve cleaned it,it’s dirty again, and let’s not get into the swirls & holograms it’s also nigh on impossible to avoid😱

The Daytona Grey one has Hill Hold (see the second switch behind the handbrake one), the HDD Satnav (narrow screen border) - so all the terrain mapping plus 3D landmarks and city centre buildings, a juke box and the ability to play video files from the SD slots as well as DVDs, it has cruise control too. That's a nice RS - would look tons better with the seats cleaned back to natural leather and not all shiny.

Actually, Haldex on the Grey was done at 26k, when are they usually due?
It's immaterial truth be told - unless the pump is removed (which isn't standard service practice) changing the oil alone isn't going to be enough on it's own.

Didn't notice the HDD Satnav good point actually. It has fewer owners as well and better speck think it is worth the extra £500 even without the Haldex..
Will try to get my deposit back from the black one..

Is this is what I should get for the front discs?

This covers both sides? or I need two sets of that?

That's them! 1x set is all you need (will actually be 8 pads - as each caliper has 4).
