Just received a quote from my local independent VW Audi non-dealership repair center for a new battery. I queried whether the new battery would require coding he stated that this was not necessary on the Q3?

Fairly sure all UK spec Audi Q3s have Stop Start and are fitted with an AGM battery. This in turn dictates the car will have a battery energy management system which requires a new battery to be coded.
I've read that if the new battery is not coded there is a risk of reduced battery life as the charging system has not been reset and optimised for the new battery.
I fitted a new battery recently and coded it with a VCDS diagnostic tool
