Hey,
Need some opinions on which engine to get, the 2.0 TDI 140 or 2.0 TDI 177. Have been reading the reviews of each, but wondering who's experienced them.
Have been using a site that summarises what experts say, as I hate trawling through reviews, they seem to say that the cheaper 140 is actually better as it's cheaper and as smooth.

Any thoughts on the extra power and if it makes a difference on everyday use, especially on motorways?

Main thing to consider is that the 140 will be 2WD and the 177 4WD.

Reports from the media suggest the 140 handles better due to the 2WD layout and is not much slower than the larger displacement engine due to the weight advantage.

I had the 140 engine in an A3 and once it was run in was quick enough but the A3 was a lighter car.

Choosing purely from a Company Car perspective, I went for the lower emissions version...

Rare is the need for 4x4 traction on the M6, and the cash saved went into comfort options, so I wouldn't have the bland dark/silver interior that the Germans seem always to offer as standard.

140 Horses is more than sufficient, for a car of this nature, I'd have said, it is never going to be a drag-strip master, but I guess it depends on your driving style and manner!

Whatever noise it makes, it'll be less intrusive than my last Diesel Dodge Avenger!
