Hi guys, hope you’re all keeping well.
I need to get a touch up paint kit for my q3.I was looking at chip ex but it looks rather expensive which I don’t mind as long as it does what it says on the tin.
Any recommendations from you guys would me much appreciated.
Thanks, Gary.

I bite the bullet and buy the VAG one.
What colour do you need - I was going to leave my barely used Cobalt Blue mini brush one with the car at tomorrow’s px but will happily post it to you instead.

If not wanted, does anyone else want it? Gromit?

Wheel colour has to come from a specialist as Audi don’t do them! The one I had was an excellent match.

Yes please, if no-one else wants I'd love to give it a good home. (y)

I have the chipex kit which is great and comes with everything you need from start to finish.
The paint is pre mixed with the laquer so it's a one coat wonder and you get a blending solution to flatten the paint once applied.
I bought it 3 cars ago and just ordered the paint top up from them as I've changed cars.

Interesting comments from Ju. I first came across Chipex at a sports car rally some years ago when they demo’d it on a badly chipped car. I was hooked and bought a kit for each of my cars.

Never again….I found the blender lifted the paint straight back out of the chip and could never get a decent finish. I tried it again several years later with another kit and another car with the same results so from my perspective I would never use it again. I was in touch on numerous occasions with their customer service who palmed me off with excuses like “well the chip wasn’t deep enough for the paint to adhere” or “the chip needs to be down to the bare metal”.

The one thing I would say in its favour though is that the colour match was perfect every time and as Ju says you don’t need a separate lacquer coat.

I can't say I've experienced that issue but I can see how it's possible.
The paint dries quickly and the blender removes excess paint so timing can be a knack.
I've bought quite a few of the halfrauds touch up kits which have been ok colour wise but more hassle with the separate laquer

I used chippex kit the premier one, really disappointed how it turned out ... contacted Audi where I got my car and kind enough to send paint and top coat so I’ll retry using toothpick try and use the blending liquid to get first attempt out ..
