Hi, has anyone uk based had their Q3 tinted after purchase? If so how much did Audi charge and what warranty do they provide?

I would expect most dealers would sub contract to local specialists for this. Would Likely get a better deal if you go to the specialist direct.

http://www.ultimatetinting.co.ukI used these to do my windows very pleased with the results you get a choice of had light /dark you want them tinted 12 month warranty took about 6 hrs to do , them you cannot drop the rear windows for 24 hrs to make sure the film has dried out properly , but the put stickers on your window switches to remind you , cost me £200 for all the glass on rear doors ,rear side glass + tailgate

£200 being subbed out by Birmingham/Solihull Audi.

Darkest black, cheaper than factory, and darker.

They normally only have to remove some rubber strips on certain Interior parts

I've been quoted £300 by Cheshire oaks Audi, and use of a courtesy car whilst its in. (24hrs) I know they will only drive it down the road to a local tinter but at least I'll have peace of mind re warranty etc.

Sorted mine out after purchase and before delivery.
I dealt with Audis preferred subcontractor, who did my job for £170, and no Audi mark up involved.
The guarantee is with the tinting guy, who guarantees his work for life.

I used pentagon on my q7. You have a choice of tints and they are officially approved by Audi. I know our local Land Rover dealer uses them for tinting their cars also.
It is the same in these parts, as the window tinting bloke does Audi, BMW and Land/Range Rover.

Can you clarify whether Audi warranty the work?

Had my q7 awhile ago, but think pentagon gave it's own warranty on their product. Didn't have any problems with it so never really crossed my mind to be honest.

Looks stunning. Tints look great. Have to say, my q7 was Daytona, and it's my favourite colour. When I can decide between a Q3 or Q5, I'll be ticking the Daytona again. Had quartz grey on my A4, but felt it lacked a bit of depth to it.

Daytona Grey is superb, but I saw a Misano Red a few weeks ago, and if the Mrs didn't have a red TT I would have gone for that instead.

I have decided to 'pimp up' my rear window a bit more, so back to my tinting guy tomorrow.
He is doing it for a bargain price

This is my rear tinted window at the moment

I would suggest that the window isn't as dark as it appears in the photo, and it is the level of darkness that appears in the photo that I want to achieve (if that makes any sense?!!)

Further tint added today - rear window only (rear side windows as before)

For me, all rear windows appear darker, due to the reduced light coming in through the rear window

You can just about make out the seats

Amazing how rear tints affect how you look from the front!

Well, I um'ed and ah'ed about tinting the windows. Had a quote from a local firm for £180+vat to do the job, eventually we have ordered the sonniboy tailored blinds from Germany, should be here in a week or 2!
Benefits (as I see it) are that they can be removed when we want to, they can be transferred into another Q3 when upgrade time comes or can be sold on fleabay to recoup some of the outlay. Also, it isn't classed as a modification in the eyes of the insurers so we don't need to notify them (not that I have ever had a premium increased for adding tints, but it would be typical to get slapped with an admin charge...
)
Will add some pictures once they arrive.

Will be interesting to see Simon
Once had some blinds on a Mini (official BMW/Mini parts - side and rear window) and they worked a treat.

Look forward to seeing the photos
