I rang audi today and they said there is no filter on my car 2013...... But he didn't seem sure, can anyone tell me if there is or not?
They just told me to look if its a gen 4 or 5 and gave me the information on how much oil each takes, im going to order the pump seals too, as ive read there's a mesh that can get gunged up, so want do that too.... Any info on how to and anything else i need know?

The gen 4 has a filter, but the gen 5 does not. Both have the mesh screen that gets gunged up.
To check which you have (most likely gen 5) there is a visual check - see the haldexrepair web site:

Thanks, guess I'll av look underneath.... Its a 63 plate, registered 18/12/2013.....if that's any help..... If its dry tomorrow, il pop underneath and take a look..... If its a gen 4, i will order the filter too, if gen 5, then il just service it and clean mesh on whichever gen i have.
Audi have said, if its gen 4 then its 720ml of oil, if gen 5 its 655ml of oil..... Or is it best do it as per instructions and wait until it starts dripping out the filler?

If I recall correctly, you fill it to the level plug, put the plug back in, then run the car to circulate the fluid, and then top it off to the level again.

I will be doing mine this weekend (gen 4), and can document for others.

Thanks, I'll post tomorrow which gen i have exactly, i thought if audi have told me exactly how much goes in, makes it easier, as all i do is put right amount in, and be done with.
Also, ive heard its just 4 bolts that hold the pump on and once bolts have been removed, pull it out, maybe give it a tap with something if its stuck, clean, new seals, and push back in place?

Mine is being done today, along with an annual service. But not by me.

It seems a frequent post that the first 3 year oil change hasn’t been done on cars - at a time when dealer services are more likely than indie. Mine certainly doesn’t seem to have been done. I am hoping the paltry 33k miles in just over 6 years compensates.

Have you had it done?

Just had the first MOT, Oil service, Brake Fluid change and Haldex oil changed today at my Audi specialist Indie. I saw this post thread and thought this might be useful to know for some. When the Mechanic (Note! Not an Audi "Technician") brought the car back (we're shielding) he told me that the oil in the Haldex was very sludgy and a very dark colour towards the bottom. He made sure he got it all out by using an air line. He was surprised that at only 22226 miles (DOR 29-06-17) it was like that. Just a word to the wise not to be tempted to leave it longer than 3 years. BTW changed to annual service because of our significantly reduced annual mileage :D

My oil was very clean apparently so maybe it was done at 3 years but the box not ticked so has possibly only done 15k miles in just over three years. I only bought the car at just over the 3 years old.

That's a good possibility. If you log in/register on my.Audi.com and go to Service/Digital Service Schedule you should be able to see the details on the car's record. But, only if the car has been serviced by Audi or an Audi Indie who has paid to access the erWin system.

I can’t see anything on service records in My Audi.
It was dealer serviced for the first three years though.

David, on the (Android) myAudi App scroll down past Your Audi Partner then "Service" is next, Open that then open "Service Plan" then you can open each entry and see what was done when. On a lap top on myAudi below the view of the car you'll see 3 headings. Click on "Service" then scroll down and click on "Show Service Schedule" then you can click on the entries. That's where the service records will be if they were entered by the Audi dealership.

Thanks Andy but no service plan in there.
Absolutely useless set up.
My only other option is to try and get a print out from a dealer.

Oh that's a shame. Just had a thought (and I'm definitely not sticking up for Audi) perhaps your car is pre-digital records. My Indie can pull up the records and print them off so it wouldn't hurt to ask your local Audi dealer.

It’s 2013 and I bought it in 2016 but there is no service book so I assume it is digital but I have resorted to buying a fake service book on ebay and getting the guy who services it stamp it for me.

The only problem with a Main Dealer serviced Haldex is they don't change the cartridge filter (not listed as a service part by Audi) on Gen4 units and don't remove the pump and clean the filter screen on Gen4 or Gen5 units
My 2012 car with Gen4 Haldex was serviced by Audi but the Haldex pump failed a few months outside warranty

If pressed, some owners have managed to persuade the Dealer to clean the filter screen but there is no way round the Gen4 cartridge filter issue unless you have the service done by a decent independent workshop

Cheers Spike
