Hi guys,
I live in Asia and just collected my q3 2.0t several days back.
I realized that my engine fan belt continues to run fo several minutes after the engine is turned off.
I know that this feature was common in cars during the 90s, but I ave not heard nothing about this is more recent models.
Is this normal?
Us it alo a common occurrence and feature in your cars?
Or us mine unique/ busted???
Any comment would be helpful!!!

Doubt it will be the fan belt !! maybe the cooling fan just cooling the rad down to the cut off temp. If you live somewhere hot it will be alot more noticeable for you.

It will be the electric fan running after the engine has been switched off. This is very common and is how the car is designed to work. The purpose, as Hannu correctly pointed out, is to cool the engine, turbocharger or whatever to normal temperatures. Most modern cars work this way.

In any event, I don't even think there is a fan belt, as both engine cooling fans are electric. (I might be wrong on this!!)
