Quick question with parking brake on if you go straight into reverse on mine the brake does not come off automatic is this normal
It comes off automatic if go into first gear fine

No, something wrong there. Mine works both forward and reverse.
SE 1.4 manual in Glacier White with Alcantara upholstery, heated front seats, Comfort Pack, Technology Pack, Interior Light Pack, Privacy Glass, BOSE Sound System.

Make sure your seatbelt is on as it wont go off automatically without it being on.

Perkinogg, Grumpy's got it right.  The handbrake will release automatically whether in forward or reverse but seatbelts have to be worn by each occupant before it'll work.

Q3 SE TFSI 170bhp S-Tronic, Cobalt Blue/Titanium Grey interior, SD SAT/NAV, Power folding mirrors, Parking Plus+Park Assist, LED & storage packages, seated heats & other goodies. Collected 27/06/13.
